The 1PLAN
- How will NewcastleGateshead make its living in the next 20 years?
- What kind of place will this be?
These are the two questions at the heart of the 1PLAN.
After undertaking extensive research and following broad consultations, 1NG prepared and published the 1PLAN on behalf of Gateshead Council, Newcastle City Council, One North East and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
The 1PLAN is an economic and spatial masterplan - essentially a 'road map' to make NewcastleGateshead a more prosperous, attractive and sustainable place.
The 1PLAN sets out a 20 year strategy for NewcastleGateshead. It presents an analysis of the challenges and opportunities and maps out a vision for the area and the actions nedded to deliver that vision. The 1PLAN is based around:
- 4 Big Moves which establish the key themes of the approach to be taken – economy, people, place and sustainability
- 10 key steps which describe the practical actions we are going to take in the next three to five years and priorities for action
- A Place-making Strategy which shows how we will shape NewcastleGateshead to promote sustainable urbanism and transform the urban core.
To deliver the exciting 1PLAN vision, stakeholders from across the public and private sectors will need to work together and show ongoing commitment.
The Gateshead Newcastle partnership will oversee the delivery of the 1PLAN; 1NG will take the lead on co-ordinating a number of the 1PLAN key steps: Development & Regenerations, Places & Spaces and Business Winning.
