New Initiatives for 1NG
To keep the momentum going 1NG are researching and gathering evidence for potential next projects. There's still a lot of work to do but this gives a flavour of what could be next.
A Place for Business
Stakeholders: Newcastle City Council, Gateshead Council, One North East
The need to provide a business friendly and proactive approach to business winning has been identified within the 1PLAN. 1NG on behalf of its partners has undertaken an analysis of NewcastleGateshead’s globally competitive strengths, a review of the current delivery arrangements as well as an analysis of best practice in this field. Business winning will be a key component of the success of 1NG’s developments and tailored propositions will be developed to attract businesses and investors to these sites.

Enabling Initiative
Stakeholders: Newcastle City Council, Gateshead Council, One North East
To deliver the 1PLAN vision, NewcastleGateshead needs a vibrant, private sector devleopment market. 1NG has identified that following the "credit crunch" many important projects are stalled or delayed. With the Enabling Initiative, 1NG is undertaking research to identify the root causes of blockages to development and to develop possible intervention tools to enable important private sector lead developments to move forward and contribute to the positive transformation of the NewcastleGateshead economy.

Places and Spaces
Places and spaces in the urban core require significant investment to generate improvement in the quality of the physical environment of NewcastleGateshead. NewcastleGateshead is a compact city: we want to make it a better place to walk and cycle. We will transform some of the motorway scale major roads that drive through the heart of the city, turning them into attractive streets and boulevards.
